Equality and Inclusion
At Park View Primary School, we are proud to be part of the Basingstoke Inclusion Programme. We are committed to promoting equality, eliminating discrimination and fostering positive relationships within our school community.
We believe that every child and member of staff should have the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their background, identity or circumstances. We are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where diversity is valued, differences are celebrated and everyone feels a strong sense of belonging.
Our vision is to nurture a culture of respect, kindness and cooperation, where all members of our community are treated fairly and with dignity. We recognise that achieving equality is a shared responsibility and can only be accomplished through the collective efforts of our pupils, staff, governors, parents and carers.
Promoting Equality at Park View
Equality and inclusion are woven throughout school life and form an integral part of our commitment to preparing children for life in a diverse society.
We promote equality through:
- Ongoing staff training and professional development.
- Regular audits and reviews to identify ways to further strengthen inclusive practice.
- Our PSHE curriculum, which explores identity, diversity, equality and respectful relationships.
- Assemblies and learning opportunities that celebrate different cultures, experiences and perspectives.
- Weekly debating assemblies that encourage pupil voice and provide opportunities for children to discuss issues relating to fairness, equality and inclusion in a respectful and thoughtful way.
- Our school values, which promote respect, empathy and understanding.
By providing opportunities for discussion, reflection and collaboration, we help children develop the knowledge, confidence and compassion needed to challenge prejudice and contribute positively to their communities.
Working Together to Challenge Discrimination
At Park View, we are committed to ensuring that all children feel safe, valued and respected. We actively challenge discriminatory language, prejudice and stereotyping, helping pupils understand the importance of treating everyone with fairness and kindness.
To support this work, we provide parents and carers with guidance and resources, including our "Prejudicial Language and Behaviour Guide for Parents and Carers." This document explains protected characteristics and offers practical information about how we can work together to challenge prejudice and discrimination and promote positive attitudes amongst our children.
As a school Rooted in Care, Rising with Purpose, we strive to create a community where everyone is welcomed, respected and empowered to succeed.
