Family Support Worker

Hello, my name is Clare Sharp, and I am the Family Support Worker at Park View Primary School.  I work full time in the school so I am around to give a little extra help and support to children and families throughout the day.

I feel very privileged to support the children and families in our school community. My role is to help ensure that every child feels safe, supported and ready to learn, and that parents feel listened to and valued.

I run weekly Coffee and Chat sessions for parents, offering a friendly and relaxed space to meet, talk and share experiences. Sometimes it’s simply a chance for a cup of tea and a chat, and other times it’s an opportunity to access advice and support. I also work alongside parents individually, providing guidance, signposting to services and ongoing support tailored to each family’s needs.

I deliver the Nurturing Programme, which is a supportive parenting course designed to help parents better understand children’s behaviour, strengthen communication and build positive, nurturing relationships at home.

To support families practically, I run our school uniform swap shop, ensuring families can access uniform in a discreet and non-judgemental way. I can also help with food bank referrals and support families in accessing wider community services when needed.

As the school’s Young Carer Champion, I identify and support young carers, making sure their voices are heard and their needs are understood. I also run a weekly Young Carers Club, providing a safe space for children to relax, build friendships and feel supported.

Above all, my role is about building strong relationships between home and school. If you ever have a worry, need some advice, or would simply like to talk something through, please don’t hesitate to get in touch — I am here to help.

Please feel free to contact the school if you wish to chat to me or email me at: familysupportworker@parkviewprimary.hants.sch.uk
