ELSA
At our school, we are proud to offer ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) sessions to help children understand and manage their emotions, build confidence, and develop positive relationships. Our trained ELSAs, Mrs Sadler and Mrs Clayton, work closely with pupils who may benefit from additional emotional or social support.
1:1 ELSA Sessions
Children may take part in one‑to‑one ELSA sessions covering a range of areas, such as:
- Understanding and expressing emotions
- Building self-esteem
- Developing resilience
- Managing worries or anxieties
- Coping with change or loss
These sessions provide a quiet, calm space where children can talk, reflect, and learn new strategies to support their wellbeing.
Social Skills Lunchtime Groups
As well as individual support, our ELSAs also run small social‑skills groups at lunchtimes.
These friendly, inclusive sessions focus on:
- Building and maintaining positive friendships
- Sharing and turn‑taking
- Communication skills
- Cooperative play
The aim is to help children practise social skills in a relaxed environment and feel more confident in forming and sustaining friendships.
