Geography

At Park View Primary geography is taught as part of the wider curriculum and is alternated with history each half term.
Our geography curriculum is designed and planned by our teachers. We follow a six-step model in line with our history structure for learning journeys. We want out geography curriculum to be bespoke; providing experiences and knowledge that many in our community are unfamiliar with. Where possible, we base our units on communities represented in our school or locations the children are likely to visit. Our teachers work to ensure our children feel represented in, and enthused by, the locations they learn about.
Each unit fits within a multi-subject topic allowing children to make links across their learning. Each area of study has a central question to direct and focus the learning. For each lesson, the subject leader provides a learning question to highlight the key knowledge to be learnt and a 'I can...' statement for the historical skills the children will be developing.
