Welcome back!
Welcome back! We hope that you had a wonderful half term break.
This term our enquiry question is, ‘Where do I live?’ and we will be looking at South Ham and the surrounding area.
We have chosen some more great texts/books to inspire the children to develop a greater love of reading and writing.
Maths will involve us in learning about addition, subtraction, shape and measure (height and length). In computing, the children will be learning the skills needed to create images on the computer. They will be using these skills to create something special. Our project in Art will look at an illustrator called Bethan Woolvin. We will be colour mixing to support a recreation of her work. In Design Technology the children will be looking at and designing their own ‘peace garden’ for our Year 1 area.
Our PE days are Mondays and Tuesday. Please ensure that your child has a named kit in school for these days. PE kits should have dark shorts, a maroon t-shirt and well-fitting plimsolls.
We believe that communication between home and school is crucial. If you have any concerns or wish to share something sensitive with us, we are happy to find time and space to do this. Please do not hesitate to catch us after school for a quick chat or arrange a time with us or the school office if you’d like to speak privately.

When I grow up day - Topic launch
Year 1 had a marvellous day coming into school dressed as what they wanted to be when they were grown up. It was wonderful to see the amount of effort which had gone into the costumes.
Year 1 started their day with a catwalk with the whole year group which was followed by a 'hot seating' activity for the children to answer any questions about their chosen profession. The children then worked in teams and had to guess which picture matched which profession, and to finish our morning the children completed successful sentences explaining what they wanted to be and saying out loud using the word 'because'.
