SEN Support
If a child consistently needs more than ordinarily available provision, we put in place SEN Support. This is tailored to the child’s specific needs.
Individual targets and personalised learning plans
If your child is receiving SEN Support, they will have an Individual Education Plan (IEP). This is a simple document that helps everyone understand your child’s goals and the support they need.
- Teachers review every half term.
- You’ll receive an updated copy at the start of each term so you know what we’re working on.
- What’s included: overall aim; small step targets; classroom support (strategies we use every day that benefit all children); individual provision; review notes showing the progress your child has made and how the targets changed over the term.
Additional adult support in class or small intervention groups
Intervention simply means giving your child extra help in a focused way. This could happen in the classroom or in a small group outside the room. For example, it might involve short sessions to develop reading, writing, or maths skills, or activities to build confidence and social skills like turn-taking, sharing, and making friends. The aim is always to give your child the tools they need to succeed and feel happy in school.
Working with other professionals
Sometimes, we work with experts outside the school to make sure your child gets the very best support. These professionals might include speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, or occupational therapists. They help us understand your child’s needs in more detail and suggest strategies that really make a difference. We use these recommendations in the classroom and during interventions so your child gets consistent support. These strategies are always tailored to your child and reviewed regularly to check they’re working.
