At the end of the week, we had completed enough challenges and were awarded the gold ward.

Parliament Week

Mrs Norman organised an event for schools across Basingstoke.
Pupil Governors from Years 5 and 6 went to the Council Chambers in the centre of town. There was a speech from the MP and Mayor; a Question and Answer session with representatives from the different political parties in the council; and the day ended with the children planning and participating in a debate on school uniforms.
In school, each year groups focuses on 1 aspect of UK Parliament and we look at significant individuals who have shaped the organisation.
International Women's Day
Throughout the school, we had a day to learn about inspiration women of the past and meet female leaders within our community. The IWD theme for this year was #BreaktheBias and we encouraged the children to think about how stereotypes should not hold people back.

Using books from the acclaimed 'Little People, Big Dreams' series, each year group learnt about an inspirational woman who had overcome peoples ideas about gender, race and other stereotypes. Fun discussions and activities continued the learning.
