  • New Library

    Tue 06 Nov 2018

    6th November 2018

Mr Christmas (Governor) opened the new school library, watched by members of the School Council and Mrs Owens.

He gave a little speech, thanking those involved in the preparation, then cut the ribbon.

The children had a chance to look around and read some of the books.

They have been given the task to encourage their classes to sign up to visit the new library.

Work is continuing on The Den (KS1), which will have all of the Reading Scheme books and the Picture books.

Parents will be invited to come in after school on a Tuesday and a Thursday 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm - look out for the start date for this.

I would like to add my particular thanks to Mrs Skipp and Mr Chaffe for helping move lots (and lots) of books and furniture.

    Mrs L Hunt

    Librarian

  • Year 4/5 Football Tournament

    Mon 17 Sep 2018

On Monday 17th of September Year 4 and 5 participated in the schools first football tournament of the season. Due to us only being back at school a couple of weeks and the team not having played together before, we started slowly with 2 - 1 defeat. From this moment on, we picked ourselves up and through good resilience and determination we managed to win our next group stage game 1 - 0. From there we went from strength to strength comfortably winning our way through the group games to the knock out stages. Unfortunately, we lost in the semi finals to the eventual tournament winners! This put us into a hard fought 3rd and 4th place play off final against our first opponent. This time however the result was different, we battled strongly and managed to win the game 1 - 0. Out of a tournament of 16 school teams in Basingstoke, we managed to end up 3rd! Well done Year 4 and 5!

  • Hampton Court

    Tue 22 May 2018

On Tuesday 22nd May, as part of our Tudor topic, Year 5 went to Hampton Court Palace. It was a beautiful sunny day, and everyone thought it was amazing!

Henry VIII was the most famous monarch who lived there, best known for beheading people and having six wives!!

One of our favourite places was the kitchen which fed 600-1000 visiting courtiers, we were allowed to chop mince and roast lamb on the spit. There were cool realistic special effects like the vibrating chopping board.

Hampton Court Palace was huge and quite intimidating, but the gold on the ceilings and were spectacular. We saw lots of Tudor roses around the halls and rooms. Even the tapestries in the Great Hall had golden thread woven in. Legend has it that the Palace is haunted…

The Clock Tower was “unbelievable” telling you everything, such as high tide, the months of the year and the phases of the moon.

We even had fun at lunch with the Palace ducks eating our food, and being sprayed by the huge garden water fountains.

How would you feel living in this exquisite wealthy Tudor house? We highly recommend this fun and educational family-friendly day out!

  • Year 2's trip to St. Joseph's Church

    Thu 10 May 2018

Foxes class and half of Woodpeckers class went to St. Joseph's church in South Ham this week. The children met with priest Chris and asked him lots of questions about his religion and belief. The children were amazed by the stained glass window and were allowed to get up close to it- which they really enjoyed and spoke about what they could see in the window.

The children had a tour of the church and also got to see all Priest Chris' robes which he wears during service.

  • Year 4's Trip to Gilbert White Study Centre in Selborne

    Fri 27 Apr 2018

On Friday 27th April 2018 Year 4 went on a field study trip to the 'Gilbert White Centre' and this was to conincide with their next topic 'Concrete Jungle'.  Here the children were going to learn all about the animals and insects that could be found in their local environment.

The day was sectioned into two parts.  The first being looking at antlers, bones, taxidermy animals and footprints. The children had to identify which animals they all belonged to and also discussed if they would see those animals within their local environment.

After lunch the next task was to venture outside and locate and identify different insects found in the Study centre grounds. The weather was not on our side
